Vice President Mike Pence vowed to revive America’s space programme, conveying Donald Trump’s desire to use a renewed American presence on the moon as a launching pad for Mars.
“We will return American astronauts to the moon, not only to leave behind footprints and flags but to build the foundation we need to send Americans to Mars and beyond”, Mr Pence said at the inaugural meeting of a reconstituted National Space Council. “The moon will be a stepping stone, a training ground”.
